Today we had a ‘Range Rover Fest’ with a P38, L322 and L405 models all in at the same time for various works including: servicing, fault on SRS Air bag System, work to brakes, leak on the rear differential, health check and valet.
It was a busy day but great to see these cars side by side.
If you have any problems at all with a Range Rover of any age or model, we are a Range Rover specialist that can do the same work as any Range Rover dealership at a fraction of the cost. why not give us a call now on 01543 422 625 any book in.
Here we have a stunning Aston Martin DB7 which was brought to us after some running issues, following some diagnostics we gave her a service, new break disks and an air conditioning refresh which cured the running problems in double quick time. There was one other issue though with the ash tray cover which had some how broken free of its hinge on one side.
How hard can that be to fix we thought, but as you can see we had to dismantle most of the dash board to get to the offending part and fix it, several hours later we handed the car back to a very happy owner, most importantly with a fixed ash tray!
if you have a problem with a motor vehicle then why not give us a call today to see how we can help on 01543 422 625
Here we were brought a Harley Davidson who’s owner was looking for something a little different. Following a consultation we decided that we were going to ‘ghost’ the Harley Davidson logo and working on to the parts using an airbrush method. We all think the effect looks great and the owner was happy to have a unique bike with a fully custom paint job.
If you have a vehicle that needs any type of mechanical or body work doing then why not give us a call and see how we could help you out on 01543 422 625 today.
Here we were brought a AC Cobra replica that was suffering from hairline cracks to the front body shell. We had to ‘dig out’ the affected area first and then complete a fibre glass repair before flatting the repair site and then prepping and painting the vehicle again. As the vehicle was such an unusual colour we mixed the paint on site to perfectly match it up.
Again we all feel that the finished car looks amazing as did the customer. If you have a vehicle that needs any type of mechanical or body work doing then why not give us a call and see how we could help you out on 01543 422 625 today.
Whilst we were beavering away at the Practical Classics show at the NEC we were approached by a gentleman who wanted to add bonnet louvres to his Jaguar show car. He could have taken the factory kit route which is a kidney shaped vent as per used on the supercharged model or had welded in sections however he wanted to follow the e-type style and have straight louvres and requested nothing be welded in but, if possible, the vents could be pressed from the existing bonnet.
As we had only done this on aluminium panels previously our approach of wooden dyes would not have worked due to the hardness of the steel these needed to go in to. We ended up making 2 sets of dyes (We made the front set slightly smaller than the ones at the rear of the bonnet as when we mapped it all out the effect did not look right with them all the same size) and with the help of our magnetic folder we made short work of the job. Following the fabrication work we obviously had to match the paintwork finish to show standards and refit the bonnet.
If you have a classic vehicle that requires any kind of work then why not give us a call on 01543 422 625 as we love to help.
Westfield IVA Test Preparation
Here we have a Practical Classics owned Westfield kit car that we have worked with them doing the IVA test preparation work required to get the vehicle through the test. Anyway without going in to all the ins and outs of the infinitely finicky details of the test we are pleased to report it has now passed.
You will be able to see a write up of the vehicle in the November 2015 issue of Practical Classics and there will be further coverage of the vehicle over the coming months.

Custom Motorbike Re-Spray Job
Here we have a scooter that was brought to us for a custom re-spray job that the owner wanted doing to show standards so that he could use it as a center piece in his living room. This was a very intricate job in which we used inks and dyes in order to achieve the numerous shades of colour the client wanted for the finished look.
If you have any vehicle paintwork requirements, whether that be a custom job or not then please feel free to contact us on 01543 422 625 to see if we can help, or if you prefer you can email your enquiry to enquiries@cbrmotorbodies.co.uk
We look forward to hearing from you.
More classic car transport work over the summer
You may have seen our previous post about the full restoration of a Guy Motors Ltd 1948 Vixen 4 Tonne drop side lorry, if not it can be read here.
Following us completing the work back in February the new owners ‘Howdens’ were going top use the vehicle as a promotional tool by displaying at a number of classic shows around the country over the summer months and due to the high level of service and attention to detail we showed them during the restoration of the vehicle they allowed us to get involved.
Our Classic car transport truck was luckily capable of moving the now fully restored and liveried 4 tonne vehicle and we hold all the correct licences to actually perform the moves with this weight on board so over the summer we have been moving the vehicle between shows and its base storage facility.
Needless to say that the truck went down a storm at the shows and all the hard work has paid off in so much that we have been recognised for the level of detail that we went to when actually restoring the car. we think it looks fantastic now with all the livery complete, what do you think?
If you would like to know more about our classic car transport services then please contact us today either by telephone on 01543 422 625 or by email to enquiries@cbrmotorbodies.co.uk
Nissan Skyline rotten wheel arch repair.
We were recently brought this Nissan Skyline with a few paint bubbles around the rear wheel arches with the owner asking us repair them and make good the paintwork. As you can see from the pictures below when we uncovered the actual arches the damage was far worse than just a few pain bubbles and would need a full rotten wheel arch repair.
After we had exposed the problem we set about removing all the damaged and rusty bits of the wheel arches until we were back to good sturdy metal throughout we then set about fabricating new arches which we then welded back on to the vehicle. Once they were attached it was then a matter of hand finishing them back to the required shape and curve and prepping them ready for paintwork to be applied. Once we had given the car a few coats of paint and lacquer it looked great and the owner then asked us to do a few other bits and pieces to bring the rest of the vehicle up to the same standard. Yet another very satisfied customer.
If you have a vehicle that is in need of any type of bodywork repair or upgrade then why not give us a call today to see what we could do for you, or in teh meantime if you would like to see some of the other types of projects we get involved in then please check out of project blog by clicking here..
Practical Classics Westfield Project
We have been retained to help out with the Practical Classics Westfield Project by helping to get the car through the IVA (individual vehicle approval) test.
Having collected the car from the NEC following the classic car show we have been asked to use our extensive knowledge and skills to get the car ready to apply for the IVA.
The work will involve intense scrutiny of the vehicle and working to bring it up to the standards required to pass the test.
One of the first things we have done is to weigh the vehicle so that VOSA can establish the breaking efficiency and to give an accurate gross weight. We would like to thank David French and his team from Industrial Weighing Equipment www.adfscale.com for all their help with that part of the process.
We will be doing a lot more work over the coming months to bring this vehicle up to the standard required to pass the test and we will be updating this post as we move along with the project.
Update
We have now taken the car for its initial test and have been complimented on the quality of build and presentation of the vehicle, unfortunately since the vehicle was built there has been some changes to the regulations by which the IVA works which resulted in the car failing due to the front indicator stalks being 50mm too short and the washer jets being 3mm over the required 5mm height. all in all an excellent result that leaves us with just 2 small jobs to complete to get the car passed. we have some pictures of the vehicle at the actual testing station below.
